Welcome, Dolphin Parents and Swimmers!!

We are so excited about the 2025 swim season, and are thrilled that you will be a part of it! Whether you’re new to the Dolphins or have been with us for many years, we’d like to provide you with an overview of some essentials that will help you get through the season!

We look forward to seeing you this season!

Melissa Smith - Leafmore Dolphins Swim Council

Leafmore Dolphins Swim Team:  Our Leafmore Dolphins Swim Team is for ages 4-18 who want to have fun, make friends, and share lifelong memories through swimming.   Leafmore Dolphins have three swim programs:  (All programs are the same cost and include league and transactions fees)

  • Competitive Swim Team - ages 4-18 who will participate in competitive dual swim meets and divisional championship.
  • Non-Competitive Swim Team - ages 4-18 - who will participate with the team in only practices and fun activities with the team.
  • Jr. Dolphins - ages 4-8 - these swimmers need a little more practice and assistance in the water and will participate in mini meets and fun events with their age group.  See below for more information.

Our team participates in the Atlanta Swimming Association summer league in the DeKalb division.

Our season runs early May through early July. We begin with after school practices while school is in session and shift to morning and/or evening practices once school is dismissed for the summer. Please see the practice times and calendar tabs for specifics.

The Dolphins swim team swims in competitive dual meets and the league divisional meets. We have 5 dual meets (at home & away) against other teams in the DeKalb division and conclude the season with the ASA Championships at Georgia Tech.

Jr. Dolphins Team - (non-competitive) ages 4-8 swimmers have their own dedicated practice sessions and do not compete in the Tuesday night dual meets again opposing teams.  The Jr. Dolphins have mini-meet scrimmages on Fridays during regular practice times. These mini-meets are supportive, low-key environments. Unlike Tuesday night dual meets - at the mini-meets swimmers receive their ribbons immediately as they exit the pool from their swims, thus providing positive reinforcement and celebration of their swimming  achievement. Jr. Dolphins will have their events timed so they can see their progress throughout the season.

Please note that Jr. Dolphins need to be independent swimmers. In order to participate, children should be comfortable in the water and progressing toward a goal of swimming a length of the pool on their own (this is not a requirement before the pre-season starts).

How do I know if my swimmer is ready for Jr. Dolphins?

  • they can place their heads underwater
  • they can float/roll onto their back with out assistance
  • they can swim unassisted for part of the pool

Registration for Jr. Dolphins is a separate registration for non competitive swimmers.  We cannot add Jr. Dolphins to competitive swimmers after the registration period ends.

Registration:  Registration will be open from March 17th to April 14th to avoid extra fees. No registrations will be accepted after April 27th.

Swimsuit Orders:  We recommend that all of our swimmers order the team swimsuit and the team swim cap.  Leafmore has their own Dolphins Reddiset Store. Team suits and equipment can be found there as a guide. Click HERE

Practices:  The more practices your child attends, the more improvement you will see in technique and endurance. We are returning to our daily practices during pre-season and to our two practices a day during the regular season. Click here for practice times.

Meets:  Dual Meets will be against other local teams. Meets are held on Tuesday evenings (except the last week when it will be on Monday) beginning at 5:30 p.m.  Click here for meet best practices.

Weather:  Unless you hear otherwise, assume there will be practice. We don’t swim when there is lightning in the area or in a torrential downpour. A little rain on the other hand, does not faze us. If we have to cancel practice at the last minute, we'll send a Remind message:

  • To sign up to receive Remind text alerts from Leafmore Dolphins: Text the message @leafmore to the number 81010.
  • If you would prefer to receive our Remind alerts as email messages:  Email a blank message (the subject line can also be blank) to [email protected]

Lessons from the Coaches: The coaches can be engaged to provide individual and small group swim lessons at a reasonable rate. They can help with anything from getting your three year old to put his face in the water to perfecting IM transitions. All of their schedules are different, so please speak with them directly.

Pool Hours: The pool will not be open for anything but swim team practice before the season begins, and not until 10:00 a.m. during the summer. The baby pool will not be available for younger siblings, and the deep end will also be off-limits during these times!

LCP Swim Team Website: https://leafmoredolphins.swimtopia.com/ We recommend that you bookmark it, and put it in your “Favorites” directory! Here you can find the schedule and contact information for the coaches and swim council members.

Contact Us: You can call us at the cell numbers listed above under Communications or email the Swim Council at [email protected]. This site is checked every few days.
