Meet Information

Dual Meets will be in person against other local teams. Meets are held on Tuesday evenings (except the last week of regular swim season when it will be on Monday, June 22nd) beginning at 5:30 p.m. Click here for meet best practices.

If something changes and your child (or you, if you are volunteering) cannot make it, please call or text us ASAP! If it is 5:00 p.m. on a meet night, and you are stuck in traffic or having a swimsuit malfunction, PLEASE CALL or TEXT us!

  • Trish Newmyer: (404) 729-8635 - Coach
  • Melissa Smith (678) 492-1922 - Swim Council

Arrival Time

Arrival time for home meets and for away meets will be determined and communicated before the regular season starts. Typically arrival time is 1 1/2 hours before the meet starts.  This allows time for everyone to be checked in and marked up, and for swimmers to get settled in their bullpens before warm-ups begin. Upon arrival, swimmers and volunteers will need to check in with the swim council or coaching staff at the front gates.  After check-in please go directly to your swimmer's bullpen where a bullpen parent (volunteer) will mark them present for their age group swims. This is important - if a swimmer does not check in they could lose their relay spot.  Volunteers who do not check in for their assigned roles will be reassigned to another meet and will be required to make-up their volunteer hours.

What to Bring to the Meets

Meets are long, lasting several hours. It is important to pack a "meet bag" for your child, as they will not be always be sitting with you. Children love the independence of sitting with their friends and the social time, so make it fun!

  • SUNSCREEN
  • Games It's easier to make new friends if you have a game that needs more than one player.
  • Books, coloring supplies, etc.
  • Small toys- Nothing valuable-  it's easy for things to get lost, stepped on, or that will be damaged by a wet swimmer,.
  • Towels and possible chairs. The pool's chairs are first come first serve.
  • Healthy snacks. It is easier for the kids to graze between events during the meet rather than find time to sit down to a full dinner. So pack small bite-sized items, such as grapes and pretzels or a peanut butter sandwich cut into quarters.  Leafmore Dolphins pool and swim team has a concession stand with dinner items, snacks, drinks, etc. available during the meet.  Our concession stand is a mini fundraiser for the swim team.
  • A big water bottle. Even though we try to keep the kids in the shade, it can get really hot. Our concession stand is also stocked with bottled water. Plenty of water is really important.
  • Cap and goggles. Leafmore Dolphins Swim Caps are available for sale for swimmers needing to wear a cap.  Swimmers are asked to only wear Leafmore Dolphins swim caps during meets.  Goggles- one to wear and a spare is a best practice.
  • Printed Heat Sheet - heat sheets are sent out early in the day before a meet.

Mark Up Instructions for Your Swimmer's Events:

Before each meet we will send out an early heat sheet or you may use the final entries in the swim team bull pen boards (in case there are changes) once you are at the pool to "mark up" your swimmers arm. It is helpful if parents "mark up" your swimmer prior to arriving at the meet. Use a black sharpie. Be sure to apply sunscreen at least 20 minutes before marking up your swimmer, or potentially avoid applying sunscreen to that area. Sunscreen will make the sharpie ink melt off.

Bull Pen Parents and/or Swimmer's Parents may mark younger swimmers as follows:

Keep up with your swimmer:

Parents, spectators, and supporters can stay in the loop, with information about their favorite swimmers right at their fingertips.

Download the free SwimTopia Mobile app.

After the Meet:

Please be sure to collect all your items!

Team results will be tallied and announced at the end of the meet.  Final individual results will be sent out on Wednesday after the meet.

Ribbons are printed and filed the morning after the meet. They will be available for pickup starting Wednesday - after morning practice is over and evening during practice. File boxes will be placed on the back pavilion tables at the pool on Wednesday.  Ribbons may be picked up at anytime after Wednesday - late morning or afternoon practices. If there is a problem or you have missing ribbons, please let us know.  Please feel free to ask the swim council ([email protected]).

"Fun Practice" - every Wednesday after a meet (during morning practice only) we will have Fun Practice. Swimmers will get a break from their normal practice routine to enjoy games and activities.  Younger swimmers may play "sharks and minnows", swimmer tag or diving board games.  The older swimmers enjoy games like water polo or similar. Fun practice is a great way to celebrate our swimmers and create fun environment for the team.
